Beauty Review: Memebox Bonvivant Jelly Clay Masks
Saturday, July 16, 2016
I've been a fan of Memebox since I first heard about their beauty subscription boxes. I kept seeing their boxes sell out instantly when they first came out and managed to snag box #8 as my first box (see review HERE). They were great introductory boxes that were filled with various Korean beauty products. They don't seem to have the numbered boxes anymore but have themed boxes. My favorite box has been their Kpop Star makeup boxes (See review HERE). I loved everything I received in it and even ordered more of things I liked. I also joined their affiliate program since I liked to promote their products on my blog. I was actually contacted 2 years ago by someone on the Memebox team to review a box. Unfortunately I missed the e-mail and have been kicking myself ever since. But I am happy to say I was recently contacted to review one of their newest products! I am really excited because this is my first official collaboration with a brand I like. I received the products for free to review but my review will be 100% my own opinion.
Bonvivant Mellow Clay Mask is a line of next-level jelly clay masks specially crafted to gently cleanse pores, hydrate skin, and brighten the complexion. It is an innovative jelly-like clay that is 50% more hydrating than the traditional clay mask. It draws out dirt and impurities, removes blackheads, and hydrates. There are three different types and each one targets different problem areas.
Mint Tea Tree mask
This one treats troubled and oily skin, removing dead skin cells and absorbing excess sebum with its Tea Tree Oil. It also tightens enlarged pores and cools skin with a refreshing sensation, leaving you shining radiantly in a non-greasy way.
Jeju Volcanic mask
This one stars exotic ingredients from Jeju volcanoes to dig out deep-seated dirt, debris, and oil from pores. It also controls excess sebum production, leaving you with clear, radiant, and naturally dewy skin. Plus, it's the mildest of the three in this line, so it's perfect for sensitive and blackhead-prone skin.
Pink Calamine mask
This one calms and relieves red, dry, and flaky skin, thanks to its star ingredient Calamine that treats even sunburns and rashes. This calming mask also hydrates while detoxing skin, so you're left with clean, moisturized, and supple skin.
How to use:
- Apply an even layer of the mask all over cleansed face or targeted spots.
- Relax for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Wash off with lukewarm water.
- Massaging off mask in circular motions.
My thoughts:
I like how you can take control by tailoring the masks to suit specific skincare needs. It's a really neat #multimasking concept that I've never tried before. My skin condition is different in different parts of my face so I like to put the Mint one in my T-zone area which is my forehead and chin, the Jeju one on my nose for my large pores and blackheads, and the Calamine on my cheeks because they can get really dry and flaky, especially in the winter. In comparison, the Mint one is the most liquidy. It a more wetter and drippy application. There is a minty scent to it and you can feel small beads when you spread it on your face. The Jeju one is like a jiggly putty. The consistency is inbetween the other two. It hardens very well on my nose to treat my pores. The Calamine has the most solid texture and also like a jelly-like putty. The Jeju and Calamine don't really have a scent. I haven't tried a huge variety of face masks but this might be my favorite so far! Since no mask is one size fits all for my problem areas this one allows me to focus on them and I feel the effect of them right after I wash my face. My face felt cleaner and smoother.
