Behind the Scenes on Wedding Decor

Sunday, May 08, 2016

I've blogged about several of my DIY wedding decor already, such as my burlap & lace mason jars, felt love bird cake toppers, and tea dyed escort cards.  In this post I put together a couple more minor projects I did showing the before and after photos.  They were simple craft projects that transformed something blah into something really interesting and fresh.

For my drink cart, I took an old cart that has been sitting in my parent's basement for years.  I decided to use it as a table for my drink station.  I love using spray paint to freshen something up.  The white made it look so transformed and shabby chic.

I wanted to fill up all the space on the cart with cute decor but I didn't have enough time to really put it together nicely.  So I used an I&K sign that my friend made for my bridal shower for the bottom section and had a wooden box for the cups and made straw flags.  I love the cute touch of straw flags.  I bought pink and mint striped straws and bought glitter tape to make the the flags.  It is super easy and adds some fun to the drinks for the guests.

We bought birdcages from Michael's for our centerpieces.  They were a shabby chic/dirty mint green color.  At first I thought it was fitting, but looking at them with flowers inside it just didn't pop out since the green blended it.  I'm so glad we decided to spray paint them white.  They looked really pretty against the pink & cream roses, and green leafy stems.

A lot of people use bird cages as a card box.  But for my wedding, I thought it was even more fitting with my theme :) I decided to spruce it up with a card sign on it.  I made burlap flags and used scrapbook letter cutouts.  I attached it together with twine and mini clothespin.
