DIY: Burlap Thank You Sign

Monday, May 23, 2016

I've always thought bunting signs were really cute.  This wedding gave me an excuse to make my own.  I wanted a picture of us holding a sign saying "Thank You" that I could use for my Thank You cards after the wedding.  So I decided on a burlap bunting triangles sign.
I bought stencils from Michael's, black paint, and a sponge brush.  I measured the triangle size I wanted and cut out a burlap triangle for each letter I needed and one extra for the heart space.  Tape the stencil on the triangle and start painting.  You have to be careful not to use too much paint on the brush or else the letter will bleed.  Carefully blot a little at a time.  Wait for the paint to dry before removing the stencil.

When you measure your triangles make sure to leave extra seam allowance at the top.  You can sew it over with your string, or simply hot glue it over your string.  In this case I sewed it over and used twine for the string.

Tip:  Hot glue the edges of the triangle so it doesn't fray.

This was a really fun and easy project.  Perfect for shabby chic weddings.  I plan to add these to my Etsy shop, but in the meantime you can message me if you are interested in a custom sign.
